REFERENCE: José Martinez, Establecimiento San José
The candidate reported directly to the referee and worked with their company for approximately six months during the seeding and harvesting seasons. Their primary responsibilities included acting as a right-hand support person, operating a chaser bin, and performing daily maintenance tasks such as cleaning windows and greasing machinery before starting work. They operated John Deere and Case IH tractors. The reason for leaving was the natural conclusion of the season, after which the candidate returned to their family’s place.
The referee described the candidate’s work ethic and initiative as very good. Their operating capabilities were rated 9 out of 10, and their mechanical aptitude was rated 8 out of 10. Communication skills were considered excellent (10/10), and they demonstrated strong listening skills and the ability to follow instructions. Strengths include quick learning and being careful with equipment that does not belong to them. Areas for improvement include gaining more experience with combine operation, though the referee emphasized that the candidate is already a good hand around the work.
Personality-wise, the candidate is described as friendly, helpful, and easy to get along with. There were no issues or concerns reported. The referee stated they would “totally employ them again” if the opportunity arose. Additional comments highlighted that the candidate is cautious, does not drive recklessly, and maintains machinery well. The referee expressed confidence that the candidate would perform very well in roles such as operating a chaser bin and would likely adapt quickly to harvester work, given their ability to learn fast and maintain equipment properly.
