General Farm Hand, leading into Air Seeder Operator, Morawa (REF 11116)
Job Description
- Dates: early March to late May (approx);
- Pre seeding and seeding tasks – see below for breakdown;
- This farm requires another air seeder operator for dates mid April to late May (refer job ref 11110) – friends travelling together will be considered if you have the right experience;
- Previous seeding experience is highly regarded but we are willing to train someone with 2+ years machinery operating experience;
- Peak hours 6-7 days a week 12-13 hour days;
- Located only 10km from town.
Pre seeding duties required, but not limited to:
- Pre seeding tasks;
- Lime sand spreading and front-end loader operation;
- Operation of grizzly plough;
- General maintenance and preparation for seeding time;
Seeding:
- Operation of the two air seeder rigs (both rigs are the same);
- Operating John Deere guidance and Topcon X35 seeding control screens;
- Assist filling up tractor with diesel, liquid cart with UAN and air cart with seed and fertilizer (we will always be there to coordinate and help at fill up times; fill times will be once every 12 hours);
- Planned maintenance on tractor, air cart and air seeding bar;
- Breakdown maintenance on air seeding rig – we will always provide breakdown support in paddock. Workers are not expected to be able to fix every issue themselves. The most important thing is that while operating the air seeder, you can identify there is an issue and stop before more damage is done;
- Being able to work in a team environment alongside other staff.

Skills / minimum level of experience required:
Previous seeding experience is highly regarded but we are willing to train someone with pervious machinery operating experience.
Someone who has not completed a seeding but has 2-3 years' experience operating other machinery would ideally be the minimum level of experience.

Description of Accommodation:
Fully furnished 5-bedroom house for seasonal workers. All 4 casual seeding staff will be staying in this house. Cooked meals will be provided for staff during seeding.
